Addressing a public gathering during the event, the Lieutenant Governor said drug addiction can only be defeated through coordinated action and active public participation across all sections of society.

“Every section of society must speak in one voice about the dangers of drug addiction. This war can only be won through collective efforts and public participation,” LG Sinha said, adding that silence on the issue was no longer an option.

He stressed the need for a “whole-of-society approach” involving families, educational institutions, social organisations, sports bodies, and local communities to effectively address the challenge.

Sinha further said that schools, colleges, villages, wards, sports grounds and cultural platforms should function as centres of awareness and resistance against substance abuse. He also appealed to citizens to support government efforts aimed at building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir and protecting younger generations from its impact.

The padyatra saw participation from senior civil and police officials, students, traders, civil society members, and members of the public, reflecting broad-based support for the anti-drug campaign.

Launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in April 2026, the 100-day “Nasha Mukt Jammu  Kashmir” campaign is a massive, public-led movement designed to create a drug-free society through awareness, strict enforcement against traffickers, and rehab support.
