SRINAGAR: The Drugs and Food Control Organisation (D&FCO), Jammu and Kashmir, has cancelled the licences of two pharmaceutical establishments in Anantnag and Rajouri for indulging in unethical and unlawful trade practices.
The licences of M/s Aatir Enterprises in Ganjiawra, Anantnag, and M/s Pharma Plus Medicare in Kheora, Rajouri, have been revoked after both were found guilty of clandestinely purchasing and selling pharmaceutical preparations such as Tapentadol and Pregabalin without maintaining the mandatory sale and purchase records. These actions were discovered during recent surprise inspections by the D&FCO teams.
According to a departmental spokesperson, the establishments procured these habit-forming substances from neighbouring states and violated provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Show cause notices were served, following which the authorities proceeded with licence cancellation.
State Drugs Controller Lotika Khajuria confirmed the stringent action and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to regulating the distribution of scheduled drugs. “Strict compliance by all retail and wholesale drug license holders shall be ensured,” she said, adding that digital inventory tracking, surprise checks, and coordination with other agencies are being strengthened.
She warned that penal action, including prosecution and licence suspension, will be taken against any individuals or firms found compromising public health for profit.
