SRINAGAR: For bright girls from different minority communities, there is an opening for scholarships. Being provided by Maulana Azad National Scholarship under the scheme of Begum Hazrat Mahal National scholarship, the scholarship is aimed at recognizing, promoting and assisting girl students belonging to national minorities who cannot continue their education for lack of financial support.

The scope of the scholarship will be admissible for expenditure on payment of school /college fees, purchase of syllabus, books, stationary/equipment required for the course, and payment of Boarding /lodging charges. The amount of scholarship will be provided Rs 6000/-each for classes X1 and X11. For ninth and tenth standard students a scholarship of Rs 5000 is also available under this scheme.

The students will have to apply online on the website. The scholarship is distributed among Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Mains, and Parsis, which are notified as minority Communities under section 2c of the National Commission For Minorities Act,1992.

The window for applications will close on October 15, 2022.

The selection procedure of eligible students is based on the percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying exam and parents/guardians’ annual income. The only girl students belonging to six notified minority communities are eligible for the scholarship i.e, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis are eligible.

The scholarship will be awarded to minorities girl students who are studying in class 9th to 12th and have secured at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate in previous class /qualifying exam.

Annual income of students, parents/ guardians from all sources does not exceed two lakh rupees and no application for renewal of scholarship will be entertained. For details click here.
