Director of the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad, said parts of the Jammu division and adjoining areas, south Kashmir and several other regions are likely to witness intermittent showers over the next two days. He said the rainfall is not expected to be widespread or continuous, but could occur in short, intense bursts.

“The showers will be brief but may be intense at isolated places,” Ahmad said, adding that such weather conditions could lead to localised disruptions despite the limited duration of rainfall.

The MeT Department has cautioned that isolated cloudbursts, landslides, shooting stones and flash floods cannot be ruled out in vulnerable hilly areas during the forecast period. Residents, tourists and commuters have been advised to exercise caution, particularly while travelling through mountainous stretches and landslide-prone routes.

According to the department, the expected rainfall is also likely to bring down day temperatures by a few degrees, offering some relief from the prevailing heat across many parts of the Union Territory.

The MeT Department has urged people to stay updated with official weather advisories, avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable areas during intense showers and follow instructions issued by the local administration to minimise the risk of weather-related incidents.
