Putting all the speculations to rest, coordination committee of coalition government Monday decided that the National Conference (NC) and its partner Congress will jointly contest the polls to fill up vacancies in the Jammu and Kashmir legislative council.
This was announced just after the coordination committee meeting in winter capital of the state.
“Pradesh congress and National Conference will jointly contest the election and it was unanimously decided in the meeting,” congress president Prof. Saifuddin Soz said to reporters.
Both the parties will contest on two seats each, according to Pradesh Congress Committee President Saif-ud-Din Soz, who is also the chairman of the coalition coordination committee.
Finance Minister and senior NC leader Abdul Rahim Rather while talking to reporters also confirmed it saying “The decision was arrived at in a meeting of the coordination panel.”
Coordination committee met in Jammu to discuss various issues and the decision about the council poll alliance was reached at in the meeting.
There are four seats lying vacant in the legislative council from the panchayat quota, the polls for which are scheduled next month.
