SRINAGAR: Nearly 91 per cent of students enrolled for the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (NMMSS) Examination 2025-26 in Jammu and Kashmir appeared for the test, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) said on Friday.
According to JKBOSE, 6,000 candidates appeared in the examination out of 6,644 enrolled students, recording an overall attendance of 90.30 per cent.
The examination was conducted under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Government of India, which aims to identify and support meritorious students from economically weaker sections studying in government and government-aided schools.
JKBOSE said the examination was held across the Union Territory under the supervision of its chairman-cum-secretary, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh. The board added that Dr Parveen Singh, director academics and liaison officer for NMMSS, coordinated the conduct of the examination with officials of the academics division.
The board said Chief Education Officers, who functioned as district nodal officers, along with centre superintendents, deputy centre superintendents, invigilators and inspection teams, assisted in the conduct of the examination.
JKBOSE said the examination was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner and thanked the officials and stakeholders involved in facilitating the process.
The board reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the implementation of the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme and extended its best wishes to the candidates who appeared in the examination.
