SRINAGAR: More than 200 students appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Specialty (NEET-SS) are expected to move out for writing their examination being held by the National Board of Examination (NBE) as no centre has been set up in Kashmir. The nearest centre has been established in Jammu and Punjab.

The examination is a key milestone in the medical career of the graduates. It is scheduled for September 9-10, 2023. Admit cards for the examinations are likely to be issued on September 4.

In case a centre was not established in Srinagar for the examination, the students will have to spend more than Rs 20,000 per head and at least three to four days of travel.

This is not the first time that the national testing agencies are skipping centres for establishing an examination centre. Earlier a serious crisis erupted with the undergraduate students being asked to move to Punjab, Delhi and Haryana to appear for admission in the colleges, a move that was amended after hue and cry.

The aspirants have flagged the issue before the concerned authorities. Indications suggest the Manoj Sinha administration may intervene and get a centre for Srinagar.
