SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at 10 locations across Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama and Budgam districts as part of its investigation into a cross-border terror conspiracy case involving alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) networks, the agency said.
The searches were conducted to collect further documentary, digital and material evidence and to establish the alleged roles of individuals linked to a local support network, according to the NIA.
The case concerns an alleged conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers and local Over Ground Workers (OGWs) accused of providing logistical and other assistance to terrorists who had infiltrated Jammu and Kashmir.
The case originated from FIR No. 0024/2026 registered at Police Station Zakoora, Srinagar, and was subsequently re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU under Section 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.
According to the agency, the investigation began after an OGW allegedly linked to the proscribed terrorist organisation LeT was arrested at a naka point during the late hours of March 31, 2026. A hand grenade and live ammunition were allegedly recovered from his possession.
The NIA said its subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Pakistani terrorists allegedly connected with the conspiracy, while the identities and alleged roles of members of the local support network were also established.
The agency is examining alleged links between Pakistan-based handlers and their local associates, who were allegedly used for communication, logistical arrangements, movement and concealment of terrorists, shelter, reconnaissance and other forms of facilitation.
Investigators are also examining the financial trail, communication channels, movement of the accused and the sources of arms and explosives to establish the extent and structure of the alleged network.
The NIA said evidence collected during the searches is being examined and corroborated with other material gathered during the investigation. It added that further legal action, including arrests or recoveries, may follow.
