SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 19 locations across eight states on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant conspiracy case.
A spokesperson for the NIA confirmed that several incriminating documents and electronic devices—including mobile phones, pen drives, CDs, and hard disks—were seized during the raids. The searches were carried out in Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
The raids pertain to case RC-13/2024/NIA/DLI and targeted the premises of suspects and close associates of Sheikh Sultan Salah Uddin Ayubi, also known as Ayubi, a JeM operative arrested for his involvement in the conspiracy.
“Ayubi was taken into custody in October this year for disseminating propaganda material linked to JeM, as well as radicalising and recruiting youth into the Jamaat outfit inspired by JeM,” the statement read.
The searches were conducted in Goalpara (Assam), Aurangabad, Mumbai, Amravati (Maharashtra), Jhansi, Bareilly, Deoband, Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Sitamarhi (Bihar), Hooghly (West Bengal), Baramulla, Reasi, Budgam, Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir), Dungarpur (Rajasthan), and Mehsana (Gujarat).
