SRINAGAR: The fate of hundreds of NEET-SS candidates from Kashmir hangs in the balance as many were unable to travel to Jammu, Delhi, and other cities on Friday due to flight cancellations at Srinagar Airport caused by strong and gusty winds.

Several candidates had booked air tickets to reach their examination centres for the scheduled test on Saturday morning. However, chaos ensued at Srinagar Airport after multiple flights were canceled.
Aspirants said that they are forced to spend over ₹20,000 per head and endure two to three days of travel to reach their examination centres outside Kashmir.
“We often face such difficulties due to unpredictable weather in Kashmir. While we are not against having a centre in Jammu, it is essential to establish examination centres in Kashmir too,” said the candidates.
They added, “The financial burden of flight tickets, hotel accommodations, and the constant uncertainty caused by adverse weather is deeply frustrating.”
The aspirants once again urged the concerned authorities to consider setting up NEET-SS examination centres in Kashmir from the next session.
Notably, candidates have previously appealed to the National Board of Examination, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and other authorities to address the issue by establishing examination centres in Kashmir. (KNO)
