Eidgah Srinagar is going to be most beautiful and developed places in the country, chief minister, Omar Abdullah Saturday said, “We want a comprehensive plan for improvement and up-gradation of Eidgah and create befitting drainage system there to make it one of the most beautiful places in the Country.”

As per a statement Omar told the Legislative Assembly while intervening during the Question Hour that speaker legislative assembly, Mubarak Gul is conveying a meeting of concerned departments in this regard adding that a holistic plan needs to be formulated so that work is taken in hand accordingly.

While as the minister for tourism Ghulam Ahmed Mir also informed the House today that development of historical Eidgah was taken in hand during 2004-05 at a cost of Rs 1.72 crore under integrated Circuit Development Scheme and under which ornamental fencing, development of park, construction of footpath and lavatory block along with waste disposal, administrative cum ticket block and shelter shed and lighting arrangements have been executed by J&K Wakaf Board.

Replying to a question by Peer Afaq Ahmad, the Minister said that another project of Rs 3.50 crore was also under execution under which development of Eidgah prayer ground by way of earth-filling, chain link fencing, debris stone pillars, construction of gate, ornamental grill fencing, extracting and relaying of turf, restoration of water body and installation of fountains are being carried out. He said these works would be completed during next fiscal.
