Nabi said, “After a full year in office, Omar Abdullah has openly confessed his government’s inability to deliver on governance and political promises. The restoration of statehood, which was central to his electoral narrative, remains unfulfilled.”

Inam added that the much-touted free electricity scheme continues to suffer from technical glitches, while the distribution of free ration and LPG cylinders is still pending, despite last year’s New Year promise by the CAPD Minister. Now, another New Year has arrived, yet the people continue to wait, highlighting the administration’s apathy and inefficiency. The government’s rationalisation of reservation is also still pending, despite a year having passed, severely affecting the future of general category students and aspirants. Similarly, the regularization of daily wagers, contractual employees and SPOs continues to remain in limbo, creating uncertainty and discontent among a large segment of the workforce.

On the political front, Omar Abdullah has remained mum on the release of political prisoners, including MP Baramulla Engineer Rashid and MLA Mehraj Malik, whose prolonged detention has become a growing concern across the region.

Inam Un Nabi emphasized, “The people of Jammu Kashmir deserve transparent governance, timely delivery of welfare measures and restoration of political rights. Omar Abdullah’s first year demonstrates a government in retreat, unable to put public welfare above political excuses.”

He warned that public patience was waning and urged the JKNC leadership to take concrete action, fulfill its promises and meaningfully engage with the people and elected representatives, emphasizing that real development, employment justice and political progress could not be postponed indefinitel.
