Operation Sindoor Marks New Era in Defence Policy: LG Sinha

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday hailed the Indian Armed Forces for executing a historic and decisive counterterror operation, stating that future acts of terrorism will be treated as acts of war and avenged deep within Pakistan’s territory. He was speaking during the visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Srinagar, where the latter interacted with soldiers and reviewed operational preparedness following ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Praising the operation, LG Sinha said, “The nation is proud of our armed forces for scripting a historic victory saga with bravery and avenging the Pahalgam terror attack. Nine major terror camps have been destroyed, 11 Pakistani air bases hit, and high-profile terrorists eliminated.”

He declared that ‘Operation Sindoor’ had marked a turning point in India’s military strategy, characterising it as a focused and measured response that dismantled Pakistan-based terror infrastructure and sent a clear message of zero tolerance.

“Our brave armed forces have not only destroyed terror factories, but are now hunting terrorists one by one,” he added, noting that six terrorists had already been neutralised in South Kashmir in the past week in a joint operation with the Indian Army.

The LG did not mince words in condemning Pakistan, branding it a “terrorist country” and asserting that India sees no difference between Pakistan and the masterminds of terrorism operating from its soil.

“The world has seen that terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir is engineered and executed by Pakistan. Our mighty forces have ensured that from now on, we will enter deep into Pakistan’s heartland to eliminate terrorists,” he said, affirming India’s readiness to escalate its response in defence of national security.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to protect its citizens, LG Sinha added, “Our brave forces will continue to take action to ensure the safety of our citizens and the peace and prosperity of the nation.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who visited the Badami Bagh Cantonment and the Srinagar Air Base, echoed the LG’s sentiments. Addressing army personnel, he warned Pakistan of heavier consequences should it continue harbouring and supporting terrorism.

He further called for international oversight of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, stating, “Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail will not work now. Its nuclear weapons should be placed under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).”

‘Operation Sindoor’, carried out in the aftermath of a major terror attack in Pahalgam, is being seen as a watershed moment in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism. The operation not only decimated multiple terror bases but also introduced a new level of strategic deterrence, according to officials.
