SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday seized over 30 kilograms of charas powder during a series of coordinated raids in Wantrag village, Anantnag district. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams from Police Station Mattan launched multiple operations overnight, targeting three separate residences in the village under its jurisdiction.
The largest recovery was made at the home of Jehangir Ahmad Khan, son of Mohd Abdulla Khan, where officers found 23.33 kilograms of charas powder. A second raid at the residence of Reyaz Ahmad Khan, son of Sher Afzal Khan, yielded 3.67 kilograms of the contraband. In the third operation, police recovered 3.9 kilograms of charas powder from the home of Nowshad Pathan, son of Kastiya Pathan.
In total, 30.9 kilograms of charas powder were seized, and all three accused were taken into custody. Police have registered cases under relevant sections of the law, and further investigations are in progress. Authorities anticipate more arrests and recoveries in the coming days.
A police spokesperson said these operations form part of the force’s sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region.
