SRINAGAR: Fuel prices across the country have been increased by Rs 3.04 per litre, taking petrol to Rs 97.77 per litre and diesel to Rs 90.67 per litre.
The revised rates were implemented immediately, placing additional financial pressure on commuters and transport operators already facing rising living expenses.
The increase comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to reduce fuel consumption and adopt energy-saving practices.
The hike is expected to push up transportation costs and may lead to an increase in the prices of essential commodities in the coming days. Economists have warned that the development could add to existing inflationary pressures in the market.
Opposition parties have criticised the decision, alleging that repeated fuel price hikes are disproportionately affecting ordinary citizens.
