In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the armed forces demonstrated exceptional courage, precision and determination during the operation, delivering a strong response to those responsible for the attack on civilians in Pahalgam.

He added that Operation Sindoor underscored India’s uncompromising approach to terrorism, while also highlighting the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of the armed forces. Modi further noted that the operation reflected improved joint capabilities among the services and the growing strength of India’s defence self-reliance. He reiterated that India remains firmly committed to eliminating terrorism and dismantling its supporting networks.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to the armed forces, describing Operation Sindoor as a landmark mission that demonstrated the strength of India’s military capability. He said it would be remembered as a moment when intelligence agencies, political leadership and the armed forces worked in unison to target terror infrastructure across the border, sending a strong message that perpetrators of terrorism cannot escape accountability.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister and several senior leaders, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, updated their profile pictures on X to mark the anniversary of Operation Sindoor.

The operation, carried out on May 7, 2025, involved strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Indian forces reportedly destroyed multiple terror launchpads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, with over 100 militants neutralised.

Pakistan responded with drone attacks and cross-border shelling, leading to a four-day escalation. India conducted retaliatory strikes, including attacks on radar installations in Lahore and near Gujranwala.

Following significant damage, military authorities on both sides held communication through their Directors General of Military Operations, resulting in a ceasefire agreement on May 10, that brought an end to hostilities.
