SRINAGAR: PM Narendra Modi on Saturday welcomed the inauguration of the ‘Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata’ in Leh, describing it as a significant spiritual event coinciding with Buddha Purnima.

The Prime Minister said the revered relics, associated with the Piprahwa Stupa in Kapilavastu and excavated in the late nineteenth century, reflect the enduring teachings of Lord Buddha.
According to official details, the exposition, inaugurated a day earlier, will remain open to the public until May 14, and is expected to travel to Zanskar in the coming days, allowing wider public access across Ladakh.
In a post on the social media platform X, Mr Modi said the event provides an opportunity for devotees and visitors to pay their respects, while also contributing to the promotion of spiritual and cultural tourism in the region.
Officials noted that the exhibition is drawing attention from pilgrims and tourists alike, with local authorities making arrangements to facilitate visitors during the exhibition period.
