SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police on Saturday said it has attached a residential property valued at over Rs 1 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of its intensified crackdown on the drug menace.
According to police, the two-storeyed house belonging to Mir Romaan, son of Mohammad Hashim Mir, a resident of Aali Masjid, Eidgah, has been seized under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act. The accused is involved in FIR No. 136/2024 under Sections 8/22, 29 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Safakadal.
“The property was acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking,” a police spokesperson said, adding that the accused has a history of drug peddling and primarily targeted local youth, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
Police confirmed that the property—valued at approximately Rs 1.03 crore—cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority. The action is part of a broader campaign by Jammu and Kashmir Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure that supports narcotic networks.
“Public cooperation is essential to build a safe, healthy, and drug-free society,” the statement read.
