Terror-Linked Assets Seized in Central Kashmir Under UAPA

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal on Saturday attached immovable properties worth Rs 3.2 crore belonging to three militants currently operating from the other side of LoC.

The action was carried out under FIR No. 48/2009, registered under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Police Station Kheerbawani.

“The individuals whose properties were attached have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Ahad Rather, resident of Kurag, Ganderbal; Noor Mohammad Parray, son of Abdul Ahad Parray, resident of Hatbura, Ganderbal; and Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, resident of Khurhama, Ganderbal. A total of 9 kanals and 1½ marlas of land owned by these individuals has been attached. The process was carried out after following due legal procedures and in accordance with orders issued by the Court of the Additional Sessions Judge, designated as the Special Judge under the NIA Act,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

The police stated that this move is part of a broader effort to dismantle the support structures that sustain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. “Ganderbal Police said the action reflects a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and sends a clear message to individuals involved in subversive and anti-national activities.”

The police further added that such actions are aimed at upholding law and order, and safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the Union Territory.
