SRINAGAR: The PRISM Fellowship, hosted by the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore in collaboration with Project EduAccess, is a prestigious two-month immersive, residential research programme aimed at nurturing the next generation of life science researchers from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds in India.
The PRISM (Promoting Research and Inclusion in STEM) Fellowship addresses the pressing need for hands-on research experience and academic skill development for early-career scientists facing systemic barriers. Fellows will be embedded in NCBS research laboratories, working under the guidance of leading faculty mentors on cutting-edge scientific projects. Alongside their research placement, students will also engage in a structured academic development programme featuring weekly workshops and lectures.
The application process has already started and deadline to apply is February 16, 2025.
The benefits of the fellowship programme involve expert mentorship, academic skill development, networking and exposure, financial support, including accommodation and a stipend for living expenses.
The eligibility criteria includes that students must be currently pursuing a Master’s degree in any science subject, facing disadvantages due to social position, economic barriers, geography, or similar factors and be passionate about life sciences, particularly developmental biology, genetics, ecology, neurobiology, and bioinformatics. The Fellowship strongly encourages applications from students belonging to underrepresented and marginalised communities in STEM, including SC, ST, OBC, PwD, religious minorities, women, gender minorities, and individuals from Northeast India.
