SRINAGAR: The only mass transporter in Kashmir, the Railways, did not chug on tracks for the third consecutive day on Wednesday forcing commuters to use buses and vehicles between Baramulla and Banihal. Hundreds of passengers who had reported to the stations returned as they were told the operations of the train have been cancelled for the day.

Normally, the Railway services follow the separatist calendar. It stops operations, the day there is strike. This has become inevitable as there were instances of protests related to its operations earlier. However, Wednesday was open and normal but not for the train.

Railways are currently running a series of trains between Banihal and Baramulla. Some of them are super-fast that help commuters reach the capital city quite fast in least time. The cheap ticket is making it as the main carrier between north and south of Kashmir and usually all trains are over-crowded.

Though efforts to get in touch with the Railways top bosses failed, sources suggest the police have suggested the carrier to keep the services suspended till April 15. Budgam through which the train passes is slated to go for repoll on Thursday and as many as 38 stations will see booths reopening.
