SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday informed the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly that restoration work on the Pahalgam–Aru road, estimated to cost Rs 25.40 lakh, is currently underway and will be completed by the end of December 2025.
Responding to a question raised by legislator Altaf Ahmad Wani, the Deputy Chief Minister said the road infrastructure had suffered damage due to flash floods on August 26, 2025. “The culvert on the Pahalgam–Aru road was washed away, but connectivity was restored within two days through the construction of a temporary diversion,” he told the House.
Choudhary added that the government has undertaken around 60 different works across Jammu and Kashmir to restore infrastructure damaged by recent floods and landslides. “Additionally, around 200 works have been initiated under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for permanent restoration in the Jammu division,” he said.
He assured the Assembly that the administration is monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of all restoration projects aimed at improving road connectivity and resilience in flood-affected areas.
