Superintendent of Police Ajay Sharma told reporters that the accused were linked to Pakistani handlers engaged in fuelling narco-terrorism. “When we checked their digital footprints, we came to know that they were connected across the border with Pakistani handlers supplying narcotics and drugs to destroy the next generation of this country,” he said. Sharma added that relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act had been invoked, describing the case as a clear instance of narco-terrorism intercepted by Jammu Police’s South Zone.

According to Daily Excelsior, the investigation began with the arrest of Karan Sharma of Jourian and Nikhlesh Verma of Udhampur, who were found carrying 3.26 kilograms of heroin. Subsequent raids led to the arrest of Mohammad Yousef in Narwal, financial handler Gulshan Kumar of Rajouri, and Jasvinder Kumar of Nowshera, from whom additional heroin was recovered. Police said Gulshan’s vehicle had been modified with concealed cavities to smuggle contraband.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Shamdin of Nikki Tawi, from whose residence police recovered a pistol, live rounds and 619 grams of heroin. One more accused, Abdul Hamid of Maraliya in RS Pura, is absconding; police recovered two pistols, including an automatic weapon, from his house. Most of the arrested individuals are from areas close to the Indo-Pak border, officials added.
