SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Friday inaugurated a New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) and a Sheep Extension Centre at Khull village in DH Pora, Kulgam, as part of efforts to enhance healthcare and livestock services in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The NTPHC, built at a cost of Rs 1.88 crore, is expected to cater to the primary healthcare needs of Khull and adjoining villages. The Sheep Extension Centre, constructed by the Roads and Buildings Department at Rs 40.62 lakh, will provide treatment, minor surgeries, extension services and animal shearing, aimed at strengthening local livestock management.
Addressing a gathering at the site, Itoo said that the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to ensuring access to essential services in rural and far-flung areas across the Union Territory. She termed the new health centre as a step towards improving healthcare delivery and affirmed that promises made to the public will be met through consistent development efforts.
The Minister said inclusive growth remains the focus of the administration and stressed that strengthening rural infrastructure is key to achieving this goal.
Itoo also met public delegations and local residents to hear their concerns. She assured that genuine grievances will be addressed in a time-bound manner.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan, Director Health Services Kashmir, and senior officers from the Agriculture Production and Health departments were present on the occasion.
