A government building that housed a computer institute for students in north Kashmir Handwara was allegedly “gifted” to a local sarpanch, reports said.
Local news gathering agency CNS reported that a building with five rooms housed a computer centre where students were being trained. Four of the five rooms are currently under a sarpanch’s occupation identified as Abdul Khaliq. Interestingly, he is understood to have sublet it to his relative Abdul Gani. He, himself has allegedly occupied another government building.

This, report said, was done under political pressures. It added that when DC Kupwara, Sarmad Hafeez was contacted, he assured action after investigating the matter. “No person in the grab of political influence would be allowed to play with future of these kids,” DC was quoted saying by the news agency.
