SRINAGAR: The International Cricket Council has shared the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The tournament begins on October 5 with England and New Zealand, who were finalists in 2019, facing off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Team India will start their campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. The much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan will take place on October 15 at the Ahmedabad stadium, which is the largest cricket stadium in the world with seating for 1,32,000 spectators.
There will be a total of 10 teams participating in the World Cup. India, Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa have qualified directly. Two other teams will join through the World Cup Qualifiers, currently being played in Zimbabwe. The Qualifiers include Sri Lanka, the West Indies, Ireland, Nepal, the Netherlands, Oman, Scotland, the UAE, the USA, and hosts Zimbabwe.
The matches will be held in 10 different venues, including Guwahati, which will be hosting matches for the first time in the northeast region of India. The other venues are Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
Warm-up games will take place in Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad from September 29 to October 3.
