Scholarship Scheme for Children of Handicraft Artisans in Srinagar, Check Details

   

SRINAGAR: The Office of the Assistant Director of Handicrafts, Srinagar, is inviting applications for a scholarship scheme to support the education of children of registered handicraft artisans in District Srinagar. This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the artisan community in Srinagar.

The scholarship Application form is free of charge and can be obtained from the office of the Assistant Director of Handicrafts, Srinagar and respective Handicrafts Block Office. Completed applications must be submitted to the designated offices by January 25, 2025.

The scheme offers annual financial support, for Primary Education Rs 1,500 per student. For Grades 6–10, Rs 2,000 per student, Grades 11–12, Rs 3,000 per student, and for Technical/Professional Courses as determined by the government.  A maximum of two children per artisan may benefit from the scholarship.

The Eligibility Criteria includes that applicants must be registered artisans or weavers with the Handicrafts and Handloom Department and hold a valid registration card or certificate, belong to the BPL, PHH, or AAY categories, or possess a EWS certificate, have a family income of less than Rs 90,000 annually, with income certification provided by a Tehsildar or 1st Class Magistrate. Candidates must also provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Zonal Educational Officer and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer. Children already receiving scholarships from any other department for the 2024–2025 financial year are not eligible for this scheme.
