SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday flagged off the ‘Physics Bharat Yatra’ from Udhampur. The nationwide initiative is being led by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and the National Anveshika Network of India (NANI), under the leadership of physicist Padma Shri Dr HC Verma.
The Yatra will cover all districts of the country and aims to build links among schools, educators and learners through practical engagement and interaction. Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor said the initiative is designed to strengthen the learning of experimental science.
He said science, when integrated into society, has the potential to influence the direction of a country and improve quality of life. He called for efforts to build the capacity of science teachers and bring recent scientific developments into classrooms and laboratories.
The Lieutenant Governor referred to the success of Operation Sindoor, calling it evidence of India’s scientific and defence capabilities. He said the operation demonstrated self-reliance and technological strength, adding that scientists and defence personnel had shown commitment to national security.
He said that over the past decade, India has focused on developing indigenous defence systems. He urged Indian scientists and engineers working abroad to consider returning and contributing to scientific and economic growth within the country.
The Lieutenant Governor said India is making strategic investments in science and technology, aiming to become a leading scientific nation by 2047.
Dr HC Verma outlined the goals of the Yatra, which include promoting hands-on science learning and encouraging the youth to engage with science in everyday life.
