The intervening night of January 1 and 2 was the coldest night of the season at minus 3.9 degrees in Srinagar. The world famous Dal Lake was also found frozen on the outer sides on Wednesday morning.

The weather is going to remain dry for some more days as per the metrological department but in coming days there is a possibility of snowfall or rainfall on the higher reaches of the valley.

World famous ski resort of Gulmarg remained coldest at minus 9.2 degrees followed by Pahalgam at minus 7.7 degrees, minus 5 degrees in Qazigund, minus 4.3 degrees in Kokernag and minus 3 degrees in Kupwara.

While as in Leh the temperature was recorded at minus 16.2 degrees and minus 14.8 degrees in Kargil. In Jammu the temperature was recorded at 6.5 Jammu, minus 0.2 in Banihal and minus 1.3 degrees in Baderwah.

However, an official in metrological department confirmed that the temperature will remain sunny during days and cold during night for some more days.
