SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday dismissed Aijaz-Ul-Hassan, a senior Prosecuting Officer (PO) from government service over charges of corruption.

The government order stated that Hassan a Senior Prosecuting Officer in the court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Thanamandi has been dismissed from service with immediate effect, in addition to being disqualified from any future government employment.

As per a government order, Hassan has been accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakhs from one Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmad in 2014, for not getting him arrayed as an accused in a murder case in Rajouri.

“The bribe was allegedly taken in exchange for helping Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmad by not naming him as an accused in an FIR registered against his family members at Darhal police station in Rajouri,” reads the order.

The order states that the officer failed in maintaining absolute integrity and acted in a manner unbecoming of a government employee, thereby violating the provisions contained in J&K Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971. “The inquiry officer’s report established that Hassan had agreed to return Rs 1 lakh out of the bribe amount he had accepted from Ahmad.”

“In terms of Rule 30(viii) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956, Shri Aijaz-Ul-Hassan, in charge Senior Prosecuting Officer is dismissed from service, with immediate effect, which will also disqualify him from future employment,” reads the order.
