Shutdown in Tral on fourth consecutive day to mourn militant killings

Tral township of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is observing a complete shutdown for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday to mourn the killing of six militants.

Reports said all shops and businesses establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in Tral town and adjoining areas for the fourth consecutive day.

They said people from various areas of Tral are visiting the residences of the slain militants to offer condolences.

The six slain militants identified as Soliha Mohammad Akhoon, son of Ghulam Mohammad Akhoon of Arampora, Rasik Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir, Rouf Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi, Umer Ramzan, son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir, residents of Dadsara, Nadeem Sofi, son of Mohammad Muzaffar Sofi of Batgund, Tral at present Dadsara and Faisal Javid Khanday, son of Javid Khanday of Amlar Awantipora, were killed during an encounter with government forces at Arampora village in Tral.

On Monday Tehreek-e-Hurriyat delegation led by Secretary District Pulwama Ghulam Mohd Hurra visited the residences of slain militants to express sympathy and solidarity with their families.

The spokesman said that on the occasion while addressing the condolence meeting and speaking to mourners the delegation said that “tyranny” will not deter the people from continuing to peacefully pursue their struggle for the right of self-determination. He said such tactics would not break the will and resolve of the resistance leadership and freedom-loving people.
