Srinagar Records All-Time Warmest February Day

   

SRINAGAR: Srinagar on Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 21.0°C, the highest ever for February, surpassing the previous record of 20.6°C set on February 24, 2016, according to data shared by Kashmir Weather.

The temperature was 10.0°C above the seasonal average, marking an unusually sharp deviation for late winter in the Kashmir Valley. Meteorologists said the spike forms part of a broader warm spell across the region, with dry conditions expected to continue and no major Western Disturbance forecast in the coming days.

Across Kashmir, Qazigund recorded 20.0°C, Pahalgam 17.2°C, Kupwara 20.0°C, Kokernag 18.3°C and Gulmarg 11.5°C, all significantly above normal. In the Jammu region, Jammu registered 25.2°C, while Banihal, Batote, Bhaderwah and Katra also reported above-average temperatures. In Ladakh, Leh recorded 8.3°C, Kargil 9.9°C and Nubra Valley 10.4°C.

Weather observers described the anomaly as highly unusual for February and said conditions are being closely monitored across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, with the possibility of further records being challenged before month-end.
