JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Department will organise the “Run for Fun Jammu Marathon” on 16 March, starting from Gulshan Ground. In light of the event, the Traffic Police have issued an advisory detailing diversions and restrictions to ensure smooth movement.
According to the public notice, traffic diversions will be enforced from 5:00 AM until the marathon concludes at approximately 11:00 AM. The marathon will begin and end at Gulshan Ground, covering key locations including PHQ Main Gate, Bagh-e-Bahu Crossing, Qasim Nagar, NH-44, Forest Check Post, Environment Park, and Hill View Honda near Bajalta Crossing.
During the event, all vehicular movement along the marathon route will remain restricted. Commuters have been advised to plan accordingly, with alternative routes designated for different areas. Vehicles from City South heading towards Bagh-e-Bahu and Bawe Temple will be diverted via Dogra Chowk, Fortune Rivera Cut, Maharaja Hari Singh Park, and Gujjar Nagar Bridge. Similarly, LMVs from Nagrota to Sidhra will be rerouted via Manda, while traffic from Samba and Kathua towards Nagrota will be redirected through Satwari Chowk and Bikram Chowk.

With Holi being celebrated on March 14, the Traffic Police have also issued an advisory to prevent congestion and ensure road safety. Authorities have warned against roadside and wrong parking, which could cause unnecessary jams. Strict action will be taken against violations such as drunk driving, overspeeding, stunt biking, reckless and dangerous driving, and riding without helmets.
Special attention will be given to stunt biking, with police urging riders to avoid any activities that endanger their lives and those of others. Holi event organisers in Jammu have also been advised to adhere to traffic regulations to ensure a safe and hassle-free celebration.
