Northern railway resumed rail service from Budgam to Srinagar Railway stations amid elaborate security arrangements. The resumption of service comes after the railway authorities carried out restoration work on damaged railway tracks.
On way to Srinagar from Budgam, a railway official said that a group of youth pelted stones on train yesterday. “But it did not cause any damage,” an official at Railway Control Room Budgam told Kashmir Life.
Two trains are expected to run between the two stations today, he said—one in the morning and other in the evening.
The railway official said that there is no rush of passengers yet.
“Only a handful of passengers boarded the train yesterday,” he said.
The rail service in Kashmir will resume its full operations within ten days. This was informed by General Manager Northern Railways A.K. Putia.
Northern Railways, that runs a train service from south Kashmir’s Islamabad to Baramulla in the north, had suspended all its operations on July 9 after civil uprising erupted in valley post-Burhan Wani’s killing.
