SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the Vande Bharat train, scheduled to be flagged off tomorrow by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will benefit everyone.
Speaking to reporters, CM Omar, said that the Vande Bharat project was initiated when he was in Class 7.
“It has been a long wait, and now the train is set to benefit us all. The closure of highways will have the least impact on people, and the exploitation by airlines will also stop. We are being charged ₹20,000 for a ticket instead of ₹5,000 when the highway gets closed,” he said.
He added that the Vande Bharat train has already set multiple records, including running over the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, and the Anji Bridge, the country’s longest cable-stayed rail bridge.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today inspected the Katra Railway Station and the Vande Bharat train ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit tomorrow. (KNO)
