SRINAGAR: The Jal Shakti (PHE) Department has announced that potable water supply will remain temporarily suspended in large parts of Ganderbal district and several rural areas of Srinagar due to urgent repair work on the Sindh Power Canal.

An official notice issued by the Rural Water Supply Division, Ganderbal, stated that the disruption is on account of Phase-II repair works of the Sindh Power (SP) Canal to be undertaken by CMD Ganderbal. During this period, raw water supply to water treatment plants and related schemes dependent on the canal will not be available, leading to a halt in drinking water distribution.
According to the department, water supply will remain suspended from 6:00 AM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and is expected to be restored by 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
The affected areas in Ganderbal district include Ganderbal Town, Nagbal, Rangil, Dariend, Malshaibagh, Babadaryadin, Khalamulla, Banjar Basti, Nunner, Gutlibagh, Baba Wayil, Wayil, Wayil Wudder, Nadirbagh, Boobaspora, Chappergund, Budurkand, Bandibagh, Arch, Serch, Suderbagh, Chowdribagh, Malpora, Hard Muradabagh, Gundrehman, Harran, Tulbagh, Kachan, Gundmin, Hakimgund, Hathbora, Kustoorpora, Shepora, Shalbugh, Chundina, Gogjigund, Malkpora, Kokkund, Devpora, Korag, Gadoora, Kuljar, Rakhi Harran, Benehama, Manigam, Tulamulla, Waheedpora, Theeru and Larsun.
In rural Srinagar, the areas likely to be affected include Gulab-Bagh, Zakura, Habak, Shaheen Colony, Meerakshah Colony, Fazal-haq Colony, Fisherman Colony, Shuhama, Chatterhama, Warpoh, Bakura, Inderhama, Syed Pora, Daedi Novbug, Khimber Hadoora, Syedpora Humchi, Wanihama, Batapora, Gassu Bakura, Qureshi Mohalla Tulbagh, Shanpora, Guzerbal, Palpora, New Colony, Kreshbal, Bakshipora, Tangpora, Gurdhanipora, Chonchaffair, Pampore Colony, Gopirora, Shunglipora, Bank Colony, Kounsar Colony and adjoining areas including Dagpora Anchar.
