SRINAGAR: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah delighted cricket fans on Friday by sharing captivating images of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Trophy as it made its way to the Pangong Tso Lake in Leh. The photographs, posted by Shah, showcased the trophy gleaming under the afternoon sun against the backdrop of the iconic lake in Leh and the nearby Shanti Stupa.

Commencing on June 27, the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Trophy had previously arrived in West Bengal on Thursday. The tour, organised by the ICC, embarked from Mumbai, commencing a journey that will span 18 countries across the globe before returning to India just in time for the event held in October and November across 10 venues.

During its extensive journey, the trophy will grace several countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, and the USA, in addition to the host nation, India.

Expressing his excitement, Shah took to Twitter to share the ICC trophy’s progress, accompanied by images captured in Leh. “From the mesmerizing #Pangong Lake in #Leh to the schools of Mumbai, Kolkata, the vibrant streets of India are set to witness a spectacular journey as the #ICCWorldCup2023 Trophy Tour begins! This tournament of a lifetime will inspire a generation,” tweeted the BCCI secretary.

Further adding to the tour’s fervor, the Modern High School in Kolkata welcomed the World Cup trophy on Thursday, granting students an up-close encounter. Renowned Indian women’s cricket team legend, Jhulan Goswami, graced the event as part of the trophy tour, further elevating the excitement.

This ongoing tour marks the first full-fledged trophy tour since 2019, offering fans a rare opportunity to observe the cricket world cup trophy up close and engage with this highly coveted piece of silverware.
