The accident occurred around 3 am near Pandey Chhapra village when the bus, carrying 42 CISF jawans, was travelling from Siwan railway station to Doriganj in Saran for election duty. The jawans had arrived at Siwan station by train from Delhi, according to Saran Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Ashish as per Hindustan Times.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the speeding truck, coming from Ekma, veered out of control and collided head-on with the bus. “The impact was severe, completely damaging the front portion of the bus and shattering its windows,” said a police officer present at the scene.

The injured were initially taken to the Ekma Community Health Centre, before being referred to Chhapra Sadar Hospital. Later, they were shifted to Patna for specialised treatment. Rescue teams, including a 112 police unit, used cranes and earthmovers to extricate the trapped personnel.

The truck driver fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a manhunt. “We have traced the vehicle’s registration number and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding driver,” SP Ashish added.

The collision caused a temporary traffic disruption on NH-531, which was later cleared by police.
