A day after the government announced the continuation of operations against militants in Jammu and Kashmir, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in Waghama village of south Kashmir’s Bijbehara area on Monday morning.
Reports said that after receiving the inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a joint team of army and police launched a CASO in Waghama village of Bijbehra in Islamabad and all entry and exit points have been sealed.
The government of India on Sunday announced the resumption of operations against militants in the state.
Union home minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter on Sunday morning to announce that the government of India had decided not to extend the suspension of operations in J&K.
“The operations against the terrorists to resume. The government commends the security forces for having shown exemplary restraint during Ramzan despite grave provocations. Government (is) committed to working for creating an environment free of terror and violence in Jammu & Kashmir,” he said in a series of tweets.
On May 16, Announcing conditional ceasefire, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) asked the government forces not to launch an operation against militants during the holy month.
The Home Ministry said that the decision has been taken to help the “peace-loving Muslims observe Ramzan in a peaceful environment”.
