SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, on Sunday conducted an inspection of the Baltal Base Camp to review the ongoing arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra 2025. The visit included a high-level review meeting with senior officers from the civil and police administration to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey.
The Chief Secretary evaluated facilities related to accommodation, sanitation, medical care, water and electricity supply, flood preparedness and real-time surveillance systems. Officials were directed to maintain seamless coordination and operational efficiency to provide uninterrupted services to the Yatris.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Syed Fahim Bihaqi, provided a detailed briefing on the management of the Yatra via the Baltal route. Security arrangements were also reviewed, with SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal outlining the deployment strategy, surveillance infrastructure, and integration of technological tools such as CCTV cameras, facial recognition systems and control rooms for effective monitoring.
Dulloo appreciated the 24×7 monitoring mechanisms already in place and urged all departments to maintain the same level of diligence and commitment to ensure a safe and successful Yatra season.
The Chief Secretary also visited the Baltal Base Hospital, where he inspected medical preparedness, including availability of emergency medicines, ambulance services and the strength of medical personnel. He interacted with doctors and paramedical staff, instructing the Health Department to ensure sufficient deployment of resources to cater to any emergency.
Further, he inspected the functioning of the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR), registration counters, tent accommodations and Langar services. During his visit, he interacted directly with pilgrims, Langar sevadars, and service providers to gather on-ground feedback. Pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and praised the administration’s proactive efforts.
Dulloo was accompanied by Secretary Science and Technology Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director General Rural Sanitation, SSP Ganderbal, ADC Ganderbal, Camp Director Baltal, and other senior officers from both the civil and police administration.
