SRINAGAR: Aspirants of the Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JK SET) have appealed to the authorities to postpone the examination scheduled for September 7, citing the severe hardships caused by the ongoing flood across the Union Territory.
In a representation addressed to officials, the candidates said that conducting the test at this juncture would cause “undue hardship” as many students were facing logistical challenges, including disrupted transport services and displacement from their homes. They also underlined that the psychological strain of coping with the disaster had left them unprepared to sit for such a crucial examination.
The aspirants pointed out that the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) and other bodies had already deferred examinations, including the Junior Engineer (Civil) test, which was scheduled for the same date. They urged that the University of Jammu, which is responsible for conducting the JK SET, postpone the test by at least two weeks.
“This would allow time for the situation to stabilise, ensuring both the safety and mental readiness of candidates,” the representation said, appealing for a humanitarian consideration of their request.
