Speaking on the concluding speeches of current budget session which concluded in Jammu on Friday, MLA Langate Er Rasheed said that it is high time for the mainstream political parties to decide once for all about their role to resolve JK dispute. Er Rasheed said that assembly had lost its grace and charm on Aug 8, 1953 when Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was handcuffed despite being Prime Minister of state and leader of the house.

“The process of eroding the credibility of the house at the hands of New-Delhi is on at a fast speed and it has rendered assembly a suspicious institution before the eyes of the people,” he said while asking all political parties to decide whether they want to play a meaningful role to resolve Jammu & Kashmir dispute or want to enjoy privileges and fix rates for potatoes and tomatoes which too unfortunately they fail miserably to do.

“If you really want a role then you will have to tell spade a spade and accept that Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory and you will have to pressurize and motivate both New- Delhi and Islamabad to resolve Kashmir issue or otherwise it will be  in the interest of everybody to leave the resolution of dispute of J&K to Hurriyat people, as I have been often referring in the house” He said.

MLA Langate said that assembly discussed about giving honor and dignity to women but failed even uttering a single word towards rape and murder cases executed by security forces in Jammu & Kashmir.  Er rasheed sought apology from the people of the state for his failure to save life of Afzal Guru but said he was completely let down by two large regional parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party.

He  asked legislators to ask their conscience and find answers, “why at least six people were martyred , No Friday prayers were offered in valley,18 PSA were slapped and innocent lady Fehmeeda Sofi were arrested during the period from Feb 28. to April 5 when the house was in session.”

He said that we could not arrest a single person in uniform but were quick to slap PSAs on innocent youths. He however maintained that assembly was still the right platform to tell New Delhi about the bitter realities and its misdeeds and also to expose brutalities of the state before the world community. Er Rasheed asked speaker that he doesn’t have any grudge for marshalling him out on at least 17 occasions ruthlessly during the current session as he knew New-Delhi never wants to listen truth and gave necessary directions through proper channel to curb Er Rasheed’s voice.
