Hours after militant attack on Border Security Force patrolling party in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, BSF Director General DK Pathak said that there is a need to change the strategy while fighting militancy in Kashmir. Terming the killing of two BSF men as unfortunate, Pathak told Srinagar based news agency CNS that he will visit Kashmir again on Sunday to have a thorough internal review of the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
“After Pampore attack, I visited Valley to review the situation, but I have decided to visit Kashmir again on Sunday (Aug 17) to have thorough review of internal affairs of BSF operating in Kashmir valley,” Pathak said.
BSF Director General DK Pathak said that it is a matter of concern for them that militants have managed to strike twice on BSF in a short span of time. “After Pulwama attack, we would like to have internal review. During my last visit, I was briefed about the situation but I think there is a need to change our strategy and in this regard I would personally seek suggestions and recommendations from my men,” he said.
He confirmed that that two BSF men have been killed in Pulwama attack and four others were injured who are being treated at Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. “It is an unfortunate incident. In this month, BSF parties twice came under attack but the moral of our men is high and they are capable of curbing the militancy,” he said.
Pertinently, BSF Director General D K Pathak visited Valley on August 12 and took stock of the security situation in Kashmir Valley following the attack on the convoy of the force that left eight personnel, including an officer, injured.
