SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has earmarked over Rs 41 crore for developmental works in Bandipora district under the District Development Council (DDC), Block Development Council (BDC), Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), and Aspirational Grants for the financial year 2025–26.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by District Development Council Chairperson Abdul Gani Bhat. The meeting, convened to chart out the District Capex Plan for 2025–26, was attended by Vice Chairperson DDC Kowsar Shafeeq, elected DDC members, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, and officers from all key departments.
A sector-wise review of ongoing developmental works under the 2024–25 Capex Plan was also carried out during the deliberations, alongside a detailed roadmap for the upcoming financial year.
According to officials, Rs 10 crore has been allocated under DDC grants, Rs 3 crore under BDC grants, Rs 25 crore under PRI grants, Rs 2 crore under the Aspirational Block Development Programme, and Rs 1.2 crore under the Aspirational Panchayat Development scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Qadri informed that 483 works will be undertaken under DDC grants, including 139 spillover works. Under BDC grants, 107 works are planned—30 of which are spillovers. The PRI grants will fund 1,488 works, including 579 spillovers, he said.
In the regular district budget, the meeting was informed that 12 ongoing works are underway in the health sector with a cumulative outlay of Rs 1.86 crore, while Rs 2.85 crore has been sanctioned for eight projects under elementary education infrastructure development.
Funds totalling Rs 1.04 crore are available for new projects under the Aspirational Block Development scheme. The officials also discussed existing liabilities from ongoing works and emphasised rational allocation of resources for new initiatives.
Chairperson Abdul Gani Bhat underlined the importance of prioritising projects in line with public needs and called for timely release of funds and enhanced inter-departmental coordination to ensure effective grassroots-level implementation of government schemes.
He further urged departments to adopt innovative and result-oriented approaches while maintaining transparency and strict adherence to timelines.
Senior officers including the Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), and Executive Engineers from the R&B, PDD, MID, and REW divisions, along with Block Development Officers, were also present in the meeting.
