SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Vikram Randhawa staged a protest in Jammu on Thursday, demanding the inclusion of Hindi and Sanskrit lecturer posts in the recent recruitment advertisement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
The protest comes after the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department referred 575 lecturer posts to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) for direct quota recruitment, but notably excluded posts for qualified Hindi and Sanskrit postgraduates.
Speaking to reporters, Randhawa accused the Omar Abdullah-led government of favouring Urdu-speaking candidates while neglecting qualified Hindi and Sanskrit graduates. “The Omar-led government has failed to advertise posts for Hindi and Sanskrit postgraduates. Preference has been given to Urdu speakers, which is unfair,” he said.
Randhawa demanded that the government immediately advertise the posts for Hindi and Sanskrit lecturers for plus-two levels. He warned of a wider agitation across Jammu if the demand was not met. “If the government fails to advertise these posts, the entire Jammu will erupt in protests,” he threatened.
The BJP MLA made it clear that the party would not tolerate such oversight, warning that Omar Abdullah would have to face the united opposition of all 28 BJP MLAs on the streets of Jammu if the issue was not addressed. (With KINS inputs)
