Central Kashmir: Police Attach Properties Worth Nearly Rs 2 Crore in Anti-Drug Crackdown

   

SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, police on Saturday said that Srinagar Police in central Kashmir has attached multiple immovable properties worth nearly Rs 2 crore belonging to individuals allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities.

According to a police statement, in one case, Police Station Bemina attached immovable property valued at around Rs 1.5 crore belonging to alleged drug peddler Mudasir Ahmad Pir alias Sahil alias Doge, a resident of Firdous Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. The attachment was carried out under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act after obtaining confirmation from the Competent Authority under SAFEMA, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

The attached property includes a double-storey residential house along with nearly four marlas of land situated at Firdous Colony, Bemina. Police said investigations revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generatedvfom illicit narcotics trafficking.

In a separate action, Srinagar Police attached a residential house along with land worth approximately Rs 50 lakh belonging to alleged drug peddler Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja, a resident of Dildar Karnah in Kupwara district.

The property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 10/2024 registered under Sections 8, 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station MR Gunj.

Police said the attachment proceedings in both cases were carried out after following due legal procedure and establishing that the properties had been acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.

The action, police said, reflects Srinagar Police’s resolve to dismantle the financial networks supporting drug trafficking and ensure that illegally acquired assets of drug peddlers are identified and attached in accordance with the law.

Reiterating its commitment to eradicating the drug menace, Srinagar Police appealed to the public to continue assisting law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug peddling and narcotics activities in their areas.
