The conspiracy to carry out the November 11 Red Fort blast is alleged to have been hatched at the institution.

The central government has also requested a forensic audit of the university’s accounts and asked the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police to examine its functioning. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had already been probing the attack, in which a Hyundai i20 exploded in slow-moving traffic near the Red Fort, killing 13 people and injuring nearly two dozen.

At least four doctors from Al Falah University—Dr Umar Mohammad, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Dr Adil Rather, and Dr Muzammil Shakeel have been linked to the blast and are currently in police custody. Dr Umar Mohammad was the driver of the vehicle involved in the explosion.

Police discovered incriminating material in Dr Muzammil Shakeel’s university room, including diaries containing coded messages and electronic devices. Investigations suggest the suspects met secretly in his room to discuss terror plans and allegedly smuggled chemicals from the university laboratory for bomb-making.

Spread over 70 acres and located around 27 km from the Delhi-Haryana border, the university management has denied any connection with the suspects involved in the blast.
