SRINAGAR: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained an early lead in the Delhi polls, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seemed to attribute the setback to internal conflicts within the Opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

He shared a post from the digital platform DeKoder on X, which quoted political analyst Manisha Priyam suggesting that Congress was eating into Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) votes. In response, Abdullah commented, “Aur lado aapas mein [and continue fighting each other]!!!”
The Delhi polls witnessed key INDIA bloc members, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, supporting AAP and actively campaigning for it. However, with Congress contesting separately, the internal discord seems to have weakened AAP’s prospects, possibly benefiting the BJP.
The early trends underscore the difficulties the INDIA bloc faces in maintaining a united front against the BJP as the country approaches crucial national elections. (KDC)
