CM Omar Abdullah Engages with Stakeholders, Promises Swift Redressal of Issues

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday assured prompt action on grievances raised by multiple delegations and individuals during a public outreach programme at the Raabita Public Outreach Office in Srinagar. Delegations representing diverse sectors such as education, healthcare, labour, and traditional crafts interacted with the Chief Minister, highlighting critical issues requiring immediate attention.

According to an official statement, delegations from across Kashmir brought forth sector-specific demands. The J&K College Teachers Association urged the government to consider increasing the retirement age for college teachers, a long-pending demand. Similarly, the Kashmiri Shawl Makers Welfare Foundation sought interventions to safeguard the traditional shawl-making trade and ensure sustainable livelihoods for artisans.

A delegation from the Hot Mix Plant Owners Association raised concerns about operational challenges in their industry, while the J&K Casual Labourers United Front sought the regularisation of casual workers and improvement of their welfare. The Physiotherapists’ Association and the Health Workers Welfare Association presented issues affecting their respective sectors, seeking government support for redressal.

In addition, the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) emphasised the need for comprehensive measures to address employees’ welfare. Contractors associated with the Saubhagya scheme from Ganderbal and South Kashmir also met the Chief Minister to discuss hurdles in project execution.

Traders from key commercial areas, including Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, and Poloview, submitted a memorandum seeking measures to revive business, enhance infrastructure, and boost customer footfall in Srinagar’s markets.

The Chief Minister assured all delegations of his government’s commitment to addressing their concerns on priority. “Our administration will adopt a patient and responsive approach to resolve these issues comprehensively,” he said.

The outreach event also witnessed numerous individuals meeting the Chief Minister to present personal grievances and suggestions for improvement. Omar Abdullah reiterated his government’s focus on engaging directly with citizens to ensure better governance and prompt action on pressing matters.
