SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday handed over disbursement letters to six beneficiaries amounting to Rs 1.12 crore under Mission YUVA at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
Officials said that under the initiative, Rs 209 crore has been disbursed across 3,367 cases during April and May, as part of the government’s push to promote youth entrepreneurship and employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to data shared during the event, out of 5,016 sanctioned cases worth Rs 269 crore, funds covering 3,367 cases were released between April 1 and May 31.
The function was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, along with senior administrative and departmental officers including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, ACS Finance Shailendra Kumar, and other top officials from planning, finance, labour and employment, and allied departments.
Representatives from JK Bank and other institutions were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister congratulated the beneficiaries and expressed hope that the financial assistance would help them establish and expand sustainable business ventures, contributing to job creation and local economic growth.
He said Mission YUVA represents a structured effort to build a strong ecosystem for youth entrepreneurship in the Union Territory, adding that the government is committed to transforming young people from job seekers into job creators.
Abdullah said the programme is designed to provide credit access, skill development, mentorship, and institutional support, while also improving coordination between banks, government departments, and training institutions.
He added that the initiative would help unlock the potential of young people across sectors such as services, agriculture-based enterprises, tourism, and small-scale manufacturing.
Reiterating the government’s focus on inclusive growth, the Chief Minister said Mission YUVA is central to long-term self-reliance and employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
